Who should you send flowers to?

We are often asked who you should send flowers to. After all, there are people who like flowers in their living room and there are people who do not. There are occasions and holidays when a gift of flowers is very appropriate, and there are occasions when a different type of gift is more appropriate. The answer to this question is not as simple as it first seems.

First, there are certain occasions when flowers are the gift of choice. These include:

- Birth of a baby
- Israel Mother's Day
- New house or apartment
- Opening of a new business
- Tu Be'Av (Israel's holiday of love)
- A birthday
- Wedding anniversary
- Condolences
- The major Jewish Holidays

Then there are the special occasions and holidays which give you the excuse to send a relative or close friend in Israel flowers just to let them know that you are thinking of them. This is especially appropriate if you haven't written to them or spoken to them on the phone for some time.

In most cases, a surprise gift of flowers will invariably result in a joyous telephone call from the receiver of the gift. A telephone call is the only way to thank someone for a gift of flowers. A letter takes too long, and an E-mail response is not personal enough. From the responses we have received, a gift of flowers and the resulting telephone call more than compensates for being separated by distances or for not writing for too long a time. It is the one act that brings people closer together -- and almost immediately upon receipt of the flowers.

Who should you not send flowers to?

The most popular and common answer is not to send flowers to anyone who suffers from hay fever or allergies. This, however, is not completely accurate. There are certain types of flowers which do not irritate people with allergies. All that is necessary is for you to tell us in advance that the person you wish to send flowers to is sensitive to pollen or suffers from allergies. We will choose an appropriate selection of flowers.

After all, we want your relatives to think of you every time they look upon your flowers -- but not because they make them sneeze! Remember: The more information you give us in the Comments section of the Order Form, the better we will be able to impress your relatives.
