In Israel, Tu B'Av is celebrated by all night rock concerts, most noticeably on the shores of Lake Kineret, not far from Tiberias at Hof Tzemach.
Most surprisingly is the participation of the ultra-religious in festivals of their own given by popular Hasidic singers and groups. It is a chance for the newly-engaged and the newly-wed to enjoy an evening out.
Match-makers do a lively business on this day, and the entire atmosphere is one of romance. Romantic songs are played on the radio and Israelis who find themselves abroad on this day, send flowers to their loved ones through the Internet.
Tu B'Av is a truly unique and ancient holiday, many centuries older than St. Valentines' Day. The populariy of Tu-B'Av has increased in recent years, although the holiday is still little-known outside of Israel.
